archlogolargeThe Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society announces the third installment of the 2016 Winter Lecture Series scheduled on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Simply Gourmet/ the ‘dack Shack in the Butler Room. The lecture will begin at 7:00 pm with attendees encouraged to make reservations and dine at the ‘dack Shack prior to the event. Steven Englehart from Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) will be leading a presentation which delves into historic architectural styles titled, “What Style Is It?”

This program explores the range and variety of architectural styles found in the Adirondack region and the historical and cultural forces that shaped them. Using photographic examples from all over the Northeast and from throughout the Adirondack region, the program will inform audiences about architectural styles and the language of architecture. By the end of the program, people will be able to identify over eight different architectural styles that can be found in their travels.

Lectures will be offered the next two months, March through April, 2016.  All programs presented in the Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society’s Winter Lecture Series are free and open to the public. The series will continue on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Hotel North Woods, with Peter Martin, PGA Pro and Author leading a discussion about the history of golf in Lake Placid.
