The Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society announces the fourth and final installment of the 2016 Winter Lecture Series scheduled on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Hotel North Woods. The lecture will begin at 7:00 pm with attendees encouraged to support our host establishment by dining prior to the event. Peter Martin, PGA Pro and Author will be leading a discussion of the history of golf in Lake Placid.

Lake Placid has a unique golf history, with the first course being built in 1898. Many of the courses were designed by well-known architects such as John Van Kleek, Seymour Dunn, Alexander H. Findlay, and Alister MacKenzie.  Please join us as we take a peek into the past and learn about golf in Lake Placid.

Peter Martin is the PGA Golf Pro at the Whiteface Inn. He is author of golf history and has written, “Craig Wood the Blonde Bomber: Native Son of Lake Placid” and “Adirondack Golf Courses: Past and Present.”
