DAY ONE (Monday, August 6)- DEFINE THE TASK


9:00 -   Meet in Lake Placid Elementary School Technology Center

          

            Introductions / Discuss Program Goal

            What do you know about the history of North Elba / Lake Placid? 

            Review of Museum Collection- “Story Lines”

       

9:45 -  Walk to the Historic Society Museum


            Qualities of a good exhibit ? - group discussion

            Tour of the Freight House Storage Area

            SNACKS

            Using Past-Perfect to find materials - demonstration


11:15  Return to Elementary School


            Group Discussion-  project ideas

            Evaluation of the day


Noon   Student Pick-up




DAY TWO (Tuesday, August 7)  RESEARCH DAY


9:00-  Meet in Lake Placid Elementary School Technology Center 


            Giving Credit / Importance of Citations

            Research-   Computer Access

                               Bev Reid - Town Historian

                               Past Perfect- Museum Archives


10:30 SNACK BREAK -


11:00-  Start Rough Drafts of Exhibits


12:00 - Student Pick-up

           

           

           


       







DAY THREE-(Wed. August 8) - WORK DAY !


9:00 - Meet in the Elementary School Computer Room


         -Review:  What makes a good Exhibit ?

         -Create Exhibit


10:30 SNACKS / RECESS


11:00 - Complete Exhibit


12:00- Student  Pick-up












DAY FOUR- (Thurs. Aug 9) - Prepare Presentation


9:00 - Meet in Elementary School Computer Room

        -Finish Exhibits


10:15 - SNACKS / Recess


10:30  -Oral Presentation Skills

           -Practice Presentations


11:45  Reflections: What did you think about camp?


12:00- Student Pick Up


       


DAY FIVE: (Fri. Aug 10) - CELEBRATION !


Students present their work to approximately 40 family, friends and museum members.


Pizza and drinks are supplied by the Kiwanis Club of Lake Placid.
